Joni founded People Report, co-founded Black Box Intelligence, co-created Summer Brand Camp and the Global Best Practices conferences.  

Her career has been devoted to helping service sector workplaces balance people, profits, planet and purpose.   

She has served as a board member for Share Our Strength, Coaches Collective International, BBI Metrics, Black Box Intelligence LLC (a Diversis Capital company), No Kid Hungry, and as an advisor and founding member of the Leadership Council of Conscious Capitalism. 

Her work in industry associations includes advising, speaking and research for C.H.A.R.T., the National Restaurant Association and its Educational Foundation and MFHA, and the Women’s Foodservice Association. She was the recipient of the WFF Trailblazer award.

  Joni and her husband Wally endowed a scholarship for the NRAEF that helps fund tuition for women of color.   

She is a frequent contributor to industry trade press, podcasts and blogs.

  She publishes periodically on her own blog, The Kindness Economy.
