My Bible Is Everything To Me.

It is Wednesday, 4th November 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to 1 John Chapter 5 and verse 7, the Word of God says that “there are three that bear witness on earth: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.”

Well, first of all, there is proof of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - but who is the Word?

Well, the Word is Jesus! That is right - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but this scripture says, Father, Word and Holy Spirit, so the Bible is Jesus Christ in print, and that is why I love this scripture so much.

You will very rarely see a photograph of me, without carrying my Bible.

My Bible is everything to me.

It is my compass, it is my direction - it is everything to me, and in this time in which we are living, when the Coronavirus seems to persist and people are panicking, not knowing which way to go, what to do next, we need to look to God through the Word, through The Holy Bible.

I remember very distinctly, like it was yesterday, just after Jill and I got saved, that I felt that The Lord wanted me to preach the Gospel.

And being a brand-new Christian, I felt that what I had to do was give my farm away, that’s right - take my wife and my five little children, and by faith go to Bible College and study to be a pastor.

Nothing wrong with that, but we need to get confirmation.

So I said to Jill, “I am going to take some water and I am going to go up into the mighty Drakensberg Mountains for six days and six nights, and I am going to hear from God, and then I am going to tell you what to do, what we should be doing.”

I will never forget the picture.

It is still bright in my mind, Jill standing at the gate with all of my five children, and her husband, this wild man, driving off in his pick-up, with a bucket of water and his Bible, to hear from God.

Well, I came back after six days and when I arrived on the farm, and I got out the pick-up, Jill was standing there and she was smiling.

And I said, “Jill, do you know what God has told me?”

And she said, “Yes, I do.”

And with that, I looked quite puzzled. We went into the house. I went into the bedroom and we sat down. I sat down and I opened up my Bible and I said, “God has given me a clear word, Jill.

And the word is found in 2 Corinthians Chapter 9 verse 8 which says that, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you always have in all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

In other words, The Lord says we must stay on the farm. We must make a place for people, a place especially for His Holy Spirit to operate.”

And I looked at Jill and she smiled, and my legs went to jelly when she said, “God gave me the exact same scripture.”

Now, folks, there are sixty six books in the bible and we have separate quiet times and then we come together only after that.

God gave her the exact….not only the book, not only the chapter but the verse.

God will confirm anything that you ask Him to do because Jesus is The Word.
