it is Sunday morning 25th October, 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

One of my favourite scriptures is John Chapter 16, the Gospel of John, Chapter 16 and verse 33. Jesus says:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Are you facing a big black dark cloud in your life at the moment?

Well, I want to ask you to please focus on the silver lining around that big black cloud.

As farmers we know, the darker the cloud, the more rain in that cloud and when that cloud eventually splits, beautiful life-giving rain falls on our farms and we can plant food for the nations.

I want to say to you today that behind that black cloud is the sun.

Now, we spell the sun - S-O-N - He is the Son of God and His name is Jesus.

When that black cloud deposits the rain, it splits in two and the Son comes through.

Who are you focusing on today, the silver lining or the black cloud.

I heard a story once about a sailing ship, a huge big sailing ship - this was a couple of hundred years ago.

They were sailing up the east coast of South America and then a calm came over the ship.

Now, any sailor, listening to this, will know that that is a very dangerous thing.

No wind - the ship does not move and that ship just sat there in that position for weeks.

And eventually, the sailors were starting to die of thirst.

They had no fresh drinking water and they were absolutely desperate.

One morning, the captain woke up early.

He took his telescope out and he saw another ship but it was just in sight.

They sent messages to that ship - They used to use flags in those days, saying “Please help us. We are dying of thirst.”

A message came back from the other ship, “Let your bucket down, let your bucket down into the water.”

You see, that ship was standing in the mouth of the mighty Amazon River and they couldn’t see the land on either side because it is such a big river.

And of course, they were sitting right on top of fresh, drinking water.

Don’t focus on the black cloud.

Focus on the silver cloud.

Jesus will never leave you and He will never forsake you.

Have a beautiful Sunday and God bless you.
