In this episode, your host Daisy continues to offer support with hopes to becoming a mommy resource with this newfound reality that parents are having to adjust to virtual classrooms at home.  Daisy teams up with Nicole Santamaria, a seasoned occupational therapist (OT) that approaches learning holistically.  Nicole discusses with Daisy that right now the focus should not be solely academics, but more attention needs to be given to the social emotional aspect of virtual learning.  Nicole offers expert advice on creating schedules, the importance of learning through play and how to create sensory centers at home.  Daisy along with Nicole emphasize that parents as well as teachers all have a learning curve right now and that we all need to practice a little more compassion and grace during these new uncharted territory for many.  This informative conversation between Daisy & Nicole mainly supports the parents working with the lower grades since they do require more parental guidance.

Nicole Santamaria is owner and founder of Miami Handwriting, where she offers consulting, instruction and OT therapy to educators, schools, parents and children.  Currently, she is reaching out to parents wanting to learn more on how to support their child’s development through workshops and hands on training. Nicole firmly believes with the right support and information shared between both parents and teachers they can then best support their children to reach their maximum potential.
