Tonight's special guest is Nikki Adams from Manchester, Connecticut, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. "I was molested by my real father at 7 or 8 and then a stepfather from the age of 9 years old to 16", she says. Nikki broke her silence to her mother when she was 12 but didn’t feel believed. "My mom stayed with him and the abuse continued until I was 16." She explains, "He did end up serving 15 years, and I heard he passed away recently. My life just took a dramatic turn during and after his sentencing. Now 10-12 years later after a whole bunch of other traumas and hardships I decided I was going to get my life back together for once and for all and I realized healing is not a destination it's a journey but a beautiful and exciting one. Especially when you are able to help others." Now in recovery, Nikki has a special way of helping others. She's become a Trauma informed Yoga Teacher! "I always felt so light and empowered after. I’ve always had this calling on my life to help other survivors but I didn’t know how," she says. "I own 'Beauty for Ashes Wellness Cultivation'. I help Survivors of childhood sexual abuse empower themselves to heal, love and trust their bodies. Through wellness and yoga I create an inspirational, safe, space for survivors to naturally break through."
