Today’s conversation is one of firsts because this is the first time we’re speaking about a language from India and my guest today, Vivek, is the first guest that I’ve recorded with over a huge time difference! I’m so grateful to Vivek for being able to make the time to coordinate our schedules for this conversation.
In this episode, I learned a LOT and I think Vivek was the perfect person to have this conversation with. He’s very passionate about the Hindi language and his profession as a teacher. As a linguist, he’s found ways to apply a scientific approach to language learning.. So, in this episode, we talk about where in India that Hindi is spoken, the ways that non- Indian people have been able to connect to the Hindi language and Vivek even tells us about an interesting similarity between Hindi and Latin. I think that he’s also given me my new favorite phrase to encourage students -- Don’t go for books, go for bikes-- which you’ll hear him explain the meaning of in the episode.
To get in touch with Vivek and find out how you can start your Hindi language journey with him, you can find his business Lern Hindi, the links to his website, youtube and instagram in the show notes.
