A New Man: Intimate Conversations about Masculinity - Part Two

Dustin Washington, Felicia Savage Friedman, Martin Friedman, and Ragivah Mahdi are back again this week to wrap up their intimate conversation on what it means to be a new man. In this new episode you will hear from all three men as Felicia continues to ask them challenging and intimate questions about their growth as men. They begin by talking about the impact football has had on their lives. Felicia discusses how violent football actually is, and the idea of bonding over something that isn’t physically being played together. The three men share their experiences with watching football, and agree that the energy that comes from football can negatively impact men. M points out that football takes the time and energy away from men that could be used to focus on the real problems. 

Felicia then opens up a very vulnerable and intimate conversation about men’s sexuality. As the three men continue to grow they admit that they have seen a change in their sex lives. As young men they were all socialized to believe that sex was an achievement. Dustin and M have explicit and vivid memories of their peers glorifying womanizing. As young men they learned that sex wasn’t an act shared between two loving people, and were taught that a man should strive to have sex with multiple women. They explain that the journey to becoming a new man has helped them realize the value of sex, and the true value of a woman. As the podcast wraps up you will hear Dustin share a beautiful thought on how he is currently making a positive impact on the young men in his life, and how all men can help the next generation.
