When you buy a home in Southern California, it’s important to think about what you want and what you need. These are two very different things. This makes the home buying process much easier and less painful for you.

What features can you not live without? You need a certain number of rooms, a certain amount of space to live, and a certain price that you can afford to pay. Think about your daily life. What do you need? What could you not live without?

Conversely, you may want an in-ground pool with a jacuzzi, but you don’t need that on a daily basis. You also probably don’t need an exercise room, or a home theater, but if you can budget them in, then there’s no reason not to have them if you want them.

To find out what you want and what you need, walk through your current home and make a list of what is there and what you want there. By knowing what you have and what you want in the future, it’s much easier to go ahead and find a home.

You’ll probably have to compromise when searching in our hot market, but remember that you’ll be happier in the long run if you choose things that you need, and not things that you want.
