In today’s special episode of Smashing The Plateau, advisor, coach, and bestselling author David Barnett reveals what it really takes to transform a mastermind group into a thriving success. During the course of our conversation, we explore everything from cultivating a dynamic mix of people to implementing the right systems and structures.

David and I also talk about our innovative, eight-week program – The Ready-Made Mastermind Group – and how it will help you lay the groundwork for a collaborative, long lasting, and rewarding community.

Topics include:

Why you should run a community like a business
The importance of having well-defined leadership
Why defining success is the key to overcoming challenges
What business school can’t teach you
Why the brokerage business model no longer works
The real difference between small and big business

David Barnett loves to say that it took him 10 years to un-learn what he was taught in business school. University had trained him to be a middle manager in big enterprises, and he was totally unprepared for the realities of small business. After a career in advertising sales, David started several businesses including a commercial debt brokerage. Helping to finance small and medium sized businesses led to the field of business brokerage. Over several years, David sold dozens of businesses for others while also managing his own portfolio of income properties and starting his career as a local private investor. David regularly consults with professionals and banks on business and asset values. He currently works as a private transaction advisor with people around the world who are buying or selling a business.
