Yvonne tells her story of how she was outed unbeknownst to her, interrogated and eventually was forced to leave the military in 1988. She and her partner had to then fight to be parents since it was not acceptable practice to be parents as a gay couple. Since then she has been advocating for the LGBTIQ community in her home in Daylesford - Victoria, Australia and has been featured in books, exhibitions and even had a song written especially for her titled: I am who I am.
She has also started an organization called Discharged LGBTIQ Veterans Association (DLVA) .
