As we are all aware, this entire year has been so challenging on so many fronts, and, as you also know, I am always all about showing up to help you work through these challenges in your lives. Today is definitely no exception. The topic of this episode may very well make you uncomfortable, and it should do just that, as we discuss anti-racism and what we all can do to help ensure that what we are experiencing now does not simply pass as a moment, but rather becomes a movement.

In this episode, I will deliver to you some coaching around how you can show up right now, how you can learn and become more self-aware, how you can pay attention to your thoughts, and how you can move forward with some strategies and some intention specific to what we are going through right now in America. And, since the first step in any action is to educate yourself, I also share with you all some excellent resources to explore. Let’s be clear, I am not an anti-racism educator, but I am all about creating goals and setting strategies to achieve them, so if you are unsure about how to start stepping into the work surrounding this topic or if you are feeling a little overwhelmed by it at all, this is one podcast that you absolutely need to hear.

Please remember that if you feel you need to talk, I am available for you with my free 30 minute Mind Your Health call which you can learn more about here:

Quotes:

“This is not a 30 day challenge. This is a lifetime commitment if you’re really going to do the work. This is a marathon…Our black friends don’t get to take a break. They’re in this marathon whether they want to be in it or not, and they’ve been in it for their entire life.”

“If you grow up in a white dominated society…you have absorbed messages constantly about whose lives matter more, and you absorbed negative messages about color of skin.”

“If you can come to accept that what causes your thoughts is just part of what our surroundings were…and that we can actually contribute to the greater cause if we work through that stuff, then we all can make a difference. We are all racist.”

“If somebody calls you out on it from the black community, you listen and you hear them, and you ask questions…and then you learn, and you show up differently.”

“Doing nothing is a privilege, and staying silent feeds into this. And I want us all to do better.”

“I just want to say to my black listeners: I’m with you, I stand with you, I hope you are resting, I hope you are acknowledging what you need right now, and asking for help, because it is our job to take on some of that load for you.”
