OK so I need to update you on the drama. I spent about a week creating a beautiful sales page. It was for my new Retargeting Fix offer. Any great sales page needs 3 things:

Great offerGreat copyGreat design 

When you combine these 3 elements, you get an irresistible experience for visitors who land on your sales page. 

I want to focus on 2 of these things today – great copy & great design. 

Sales pages have a proven format that they should follow. 

Headline – which should grab someone’s attentionDescribe the problem in the person’s own words – I love using phrase banks to do thisShare the solution, the WHY behind how it works, and then develop a little rapport by introducing yourselfThen you’ll share the details of your offer, name, any pictures of it, and go through the modules & bonuses inside the offer. You’ll make it easy to understand all the features, and what benefits the customer will get by purchasing your offer. Then you need a guarantee & to let them know the reason they should buy now (there can be lots of reasons, depending on the offer)Then you’ll have an FAQ section. It’s natural for people to have questions so this is where you answer them. Then you have your final wrap up statement & another call to action to buy. 

Writing & designing a sales page is a bit like making banana bread. If you forget the sugar, or the eggs, or the flour, or the bananas… it’s just not going to end up well!

To increase your chances of success, your sales page needs these different elements put into it. 

Then in terms of design… if I see a sales page that looks like a 2 year old put it together, it’s just not a good look. 

Or quite often another big issue when I look at a clients sales pages on my iPhone – is that they are unreadable! HUGE text. Or tiny text. HUGE photos. Or pages of text that is so boring to read. And all of these issues make people leave your sales page. 

So even if your offer is good, all of these things will stop people from buying it!

So anyway – back to the sale page I was designing. 

The offer was great. 

The copy was irresistible. It had a strong headline, the problem used words my target audience would use, and included all the sections and humor… to keep people both interested and entertained. People love to hang out with people who make them laugh. Even in the B2B space!!

The design was great on desktop, it flowed from section to section and was great on mobile. 

And then it happened. 

The page disappeared. It had somehow got corrupted in the software program I had been using. 

1 full weeks of writing & designing – had disappeared!! 

Boom. Vanished!!

Long story short, after about 3 days of tech support I managed to revert to an old copy & I got it fixed. But here are the 3 things I advise you do to anytime you are working on a sale pages:

Copy & paste the whole page into a word doc. Then you’ll save the copy.Create a clone of the page in your tech account. Then you’ll save the tech stuff. Take a screengrab of the full sales page. Then you’ll save the design layout.

But I have gone back & backed up ALL my other existing sales pages & I would advise you to do the same.
