Greetings, Summit Leaders.

I am encouraged by my conversations with Summit Leaders who describe themselves as "servant leaders." They are intentional in their thinking about their vision to have a positive impact on people.

One Summit Leader shares how she coached a group of high school lacrosse players following a career-ending injury. I asked her to recall someone from years ago who experienced a positive transformation during their time together. Immediately, with a big smile, she remembered that one person whose life is now different because of her influence.

The potential of our impact by our life and actions is immeasurable. People observe us, see qualities and perspectives, and attributes that resonate with them.

Today, you will engage with people who will benefit from your leadership. Caring for others with authenticity connects with people at a deeper level.

Another Summit shared how a colleague said several words that encouraged and inspired her during a stressful moment at work.

She did not know that her words inspired and motivated her colleague.

Attitude matters in life and business.

"You never know what a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life." Zig Ziglar

Your optimism, affirmation, faith, and presence can be a bright light in the lives of so many people. It has been said, "you are the salt of earth and light of the world." So, "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."

I admire Summit Leaders who decide to become a strong influence for good and purposefully lead their lives with the motivation of helping others. A "caring" heart helps us connect with family, friends, colleagues, clients, and everyone we meet.

Great leaders focus on caring about the one person in front of them. The willingness to care for one multiplies our capacity to influence many. "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." Nelson Mandela

This week, a Summit Leader shared his vision. "My career vision for IBM is to gain an understanding of IBM systems and culture to provide exceptional value to all my clients and colleagues. As a future manager, I plan to support and encourage the next generation to become the best that they can be." Summit Leader

He shares the impact that one IBM Manager had on him during an IBM internship. "He was the biggest influence in making me feel more confident in my ability. I said to myself, "Wow! That's someone I want to emulate. I want to help people understand their value."

A person does not care how much you know until they know how much you care for them. "Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul on another." -George Eliot.

Summit Leaders are asking how I can help others? They seek opportunities to encourage their colleagues. They are impacting the culture through their influence.

Every great leader has one person whose influence that they will never forget. "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives."

Jackie Robinson
