I got off the Waiheke ferry, and there she was. Waiting and waving, standing in her usual spot. Jack! She said. If you’re a long time listener with us, you’ll know I’m not a big fan of stuff. I live in a sparsely furnished apartment and I run what I consider to be a minimalist aesthetic. I really try not to buy stuff for the sake of buying stuff. I really try not to hold onto stuff for the sake of holding onto it. When I finally bought a couch a few months ago to compliment the armchairs in my lounge and stop my friends from giving me grief, I only assuaged my guilt by going to the City Mission and don...

Jack Tame: Donald Trump is dividing America in the most ugliest way

July 19, 2019 22:21 - 4 minutes - 3.75 MB

It’s kind of a funny time to be working in a job where you’re encouraged to share your opinions. I think working on radio is maybe a bit like working in comedy at the moment, in that there’s this huge character dominating so much of the World’s attention, who’s dominating so much news coverage, it almost seems too obvious to talk about him. On Saturday mornings, I purposefully don’t try and talk to you about Donald Trump too much, cos honestly I think most of us get a bit Donald Trump’d out. ...

Andrew Dickens reviews Ed Sheeran's new album

July 13, 2019 01:04 - 6 minutes - 5.87 MB

With the steady stream of singles, I've been under-impressed despite the fact they have all done well on radio and streaming.  They seem underdone. Ed's distinctive voice is often disguised through pitch changing and vocoders making him sound like a generic neo soul rap singer.  It's not to say this collection is bad. It's fine but it's not up to Ed's high standards. It feels like its a contractual obligation which he's getting through with a little help from his friends. Rating: 6/10
