This is part 1 of 2 with the Abramovic Family.

In this 2-part series Lynn and Randy share how their lives were turned upside down when their daughter Heather, a 22-year-old college senior, started experiencing unusual symptoms of pins and needles that ultimately led to a her diagnosis of a rare condition that caused her to have a brain bleed.

Randy shares his frustration with wanting to "fix" the problem for his daughter and how he came to appreciate that taking an indirect support role helped support his family and allowed him to contribute to Heather's recovery in a meaningful way.

After the initial shock, overwhelm and nonstop activity involved in dealing with the immediate crisis of learning that her daughter was in a fight for her life, Lynn experienced PTSD. She got therapy to help her cope with her memories of the trauma and better deal with her new reality.

The Abramovic's are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and say that love, their faith, support for each other, getting help and support from friends and family and self care were critical in making it through their biggest rock bottom moments.

Lynn and Randy are co-authors with Heather in their new book, Head Strong.

The Abramovic's said they received huge support through Angioma Alliance: Because Brains Shouldn't Bleed, and recommend you visit Angioma Alliance to learn more about Heather's condition, cavernous angioma.
