In this introductory episode, I share my journey towards an empowering theory and practice of rewild mothering.

Alchemizing science and the sacred, I discuss the science of motherhood studies, ecopsychology, and the conservation practice of rewilding and weave that  inquiry together with poetry and narrative based in my own lived experience of matresence, the developmental transition into motherhood.

Who is considered a mother? What does it mean to be rewild as a mother? How might one start the process of rewilding their motherwork? How might this shift towards a holistic approach to maternal wellness affect our understanding of postpartum and maternal mental health? What does holistic mean and and why is Mother Earth centered in this approach to wellness?

We start to answer these fundamental questions, and ask some more.

Situating rewild mothering within the work of thought mothers like Analouise Keating, Clarissa Estes, Adrienne Rich, Richard Louv, and even a bit of Thoreau, I maps the development of this mother-centered concept that challenges the "good mother myth" status quo story of modern motherhood by reintroducing the wild mother myth back to our maternal practice.

This week is a double episode, 30 minutes total, to illuminate the landscape we’ll be exploring throughout the first season through guest interviews with mothering professionals and mothers ourselves.
