“One transcendent experience in nature is worth 1000 nature facts.” -David Sobel
“Knowing that you love the Earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the Earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship into a sacred bond.” -Robin Wall Kimmerer
In this bonus episode, I lead you on a mindful outdoor experience to connect you more intimately with Mother Earth.
This practice is rooted in The Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership and it's tradition, where I trained as a mindful outdoor guide. This school calls on the power of mindfulness to inspire individuals and human societies into greater partnership with the living Earth, so future generations can thrive.
In just 15 minutes, you can:
As with any mindfulness practice, ensure your safety throughout. The wilderness can be a dangerous place. Stay within your comfort zone, in places where you will be certain to be enveloped by your landscape in loving ways and can "stay found". Mother Earth can help you find your wild inner self, but you can’t “find yourself” very well if you get lost on the trail.
Whether on your porch, in your backyard, in a local park, or elsewhere, prepare yourself with everything you might need to take good care of yourself on this brief mindfulness journey (compass, map, sturdy shoes, jacket, water, phone, bandaids, snack, etc.).
Then put one earbud in so you can connect to the sounds of your natural setting, and rewild.
