Are you a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)? or perhaps you live or work with one?

What sort of environment is needed for a HSP to flourish and perform at their best?

Dr Russell Thackeray takes a closer look at what HSP is and how it can make or break someone.

Highly Sensitive People are hypersensitive to external stimuli, they have a greater depth of cognitive processing and high emotional reactivity. They automatically have a negative connotation and seem uniquely placed to have a miserable existence . but they can also have an absolutely fantastic one too!

HSP’s have a greater awareness or sensitivity to their environment and to other people. They often have higher degrees of empathy because they seem to be able to read people more quickly and deeply. They can also suss themselves out too as they are more aware of themselves.

This magnification can work for you or against you. Russell sees it as a Superpower because once we understand it better, being sensitive can be used for the benefit of ourselves and others.

The resilience strategies that give a sense of personal self worth and build self esteem are really important for a HSP or any sensitive person. If they can conquer the anxiety and need to please everybody then they can be very important and effective people to have in a business.
