Why is squatting a civil matter when it's obviously criminal?
What's to stop someone when confronted after breaking into your house to merely respond, "Oh, I live here now." Boom! Now civil! This country is weird...

Why is there not a massive tax on owning additional (investment) single family homes?
It seems like there is an imbalance in the availability of single-family homes in desirable areas, despite the advocacy of progressive politicians for more affordable and missing middle housing. Why don't we impose high property taxes on non-primary residences could incentivize landlords to sell and increase the housing supply? Additionally, stricter regulations on long-term rentals could also help address the shortage.
