In today’s episode of Psych Talk I speak with Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge about teletherapy. Dr. Roseann is the found of The Global Institute of Children’s Mental Health and specializes working with children and teens with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, Lyme disease, and PANS/PANDAS. During the pandemic teletherapy is something that mental health professionals and therapy clients have become very familiar with in a very abrupt and short amount of time. Dr. Roseann discusses the benefits of teletherapy, as well as the effectiveness. We discuss ways in which clinicians can maximize the effectiveness of teletherapy and how to keep clients engaged. Dr. Roseann discusses her book Teletherapy Toolkit: Therapist Handbook for Treating Children and Teens: Why Teletherapy Is Needed More Than Ever and provides listeners with some tangible ideas to implement during teletherapy sessions. We also touch on e-learning and tips for keeping children and teens engaged in online school.
