Get inside of the strength coaches mind in this episode as Mike & Byron reveal the concepts behind the forces involved in training and how they effectively help lifters move correctly and safely.

We begin as always with a summary of the past episodes, which we do recommend you listen to before proceeding onto this one.

Today we help both coaches and lifters in understanding the kind of forces that are at play in strength training. This episode is designed to be particularly useful to those gym goers who might be looking to hire a professional in the future.

We begin by talking about force and classical mechanics and how it generally relates to the principle of strength training.

We then go on to discuss Newton's three laws of motion.

Each one of Newton's laws directly relates back to the kind of decisions we might make about training.

Later in the episode we go into greater detail on the three forces that lifters are subject to when they move under the barbell.

Those forces include compression, tension and movement force.

Byron goes on to reference a book he authored in 2019 "The gym mistakes you didn't know you were making "
In this book many examples of photographs are given that highlight tension compression and moment, and we highly recommend you download a free copy of this book from his website.

we close out of the episode by explaining the importance of training in the correct and full range of motion for the exercises, throughout the entire episode we give helpful explanations of how lifts should look and should not look and also provide some caution to repetitive exercise when the lift is not being performed correctly.

In particular the joints of the body Should be trained through their Effective range of motion, when done so underload this not only strengthens the muscles but also the connective tissues and ligaments of the body.

We talk about some Anecdotal examples of why this is important to not only older lifters but also athletes as well.
