In honor of such, join myself and others as information will be provided to educate, encourage and provide resources as many individuals appear to lack undertanding as it relates to the unique struggles that ethnic minority communities face regarding mental illness in the United States.
When the issue of mental health comes up it is often a touchy and complex subject as the symptoms can often go ignored, be misdiagnosed or one can become overly medicated. Lack of trust, resources and availability can also be problematic. However symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, Bi Polar disorder as well as personality disorders are just to diagnoses according to the DSM V. Accessing services for individuals can also leave one feeling confused, frustrated and hopeless. Support is available however in some communities families are not provided assistance until a something tragic occur or a senseless crime has been committed. Let's talk about it. I want to hear your thoughts. To join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914. Mental Health is real and resources are available. Hosted by Jeanette Abney LMFT.
