In this message, Paul says he is coming to the Corinthians the third time. What does this mean, since we only know of two visits? Was there another visit we do not know about, or did he mean something else? Paul warns them he will not spare those who sinned this time, so they should examine themselves to see if they are in the faith. Though Paul acting powerfully to destroy the rebels would prove his own power, he would prefer that his power would not be proved and that they would be found honorable, which is why he has written to them as he has. Finally he gives them his farewell greetings.
