Is it just me, or have you noticed that it's getting harder and harder to hear things correctly?

There's lots of noise going on around us. Hard to hear - and to hear correctly.

In the book of Revelation, as Jesus sends the various messages to the seven churches, he would end his message with the following: He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Now what does THAT mean? Of course we all have ears. There’s only one guy in scripture we hear of being earless - Malchus, the servant of the chief priest whom Peter attacked as Jesus was being arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. But even that was momentary, as Jesus told Peter to put away his sword, and then healed Malchus’ ear.

So if Jesus is talking to people who do have physical ears, what does he mean for those of us who have ears, for us to hear?

There is a difference in hearing and in HEARING, if you catch my meaning.

In today’s passage, Jesus will use a parable to show us the importance of that answer:  indicating that we HEAR what has been said, and we HEAR what is BEING SAID…
