Most grocery store remedies provide temporary symptom relief but rarely do much to get at the root of the issue. I love discovering a variety of ways to get at the root of the problem, and herbal remedies are a great way to do that. When we start turning to other options, it can feel overwhelming to know who and what to trust, what's safe, effective and worth your time and money.

I invited herbalist Jordan Gundersen to come on the podcast and teach us about where we can begin to use herbs as part of our healing journey both safely and effectively. Jordan compares using herbs for healing as similar to replacing whole plant foods for processed ones--when we use the herb we are getting the whole plant and all of its phytochemicals to work in concert rather than extracting a few chemicals as is often the case with both processed foods and pharmaceuticals.

As always this is intended for informational purposes and is not intended to replace medical advice. As you'll hear, some herbs can react negatively with prescription drugs and so you would definitely want to work with a qualified medical professional to make adjustments in that area. But I hope this gives you a good overview and understanding of how we can learn about and start to experience the benefits of herbs.
