In this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Sandy Branham, Assistant Professor of Humanities and Digital Studio Director of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Jonathan Rust, President of the PAWS. As a student-led organization, PAWS carries out the mission to conduct TNR for cats within their campus and foster abandoned kittens for adoption. Members of the organization try to balance this mission in the midst of their academic responsibilities.

One unique feature that the organization maintains is their feeding station located outdoors on their campus property. This is where students feed the cats twice a day. Since they started as an organization in 2018, PAWS has served 123 cats. Currently, they are working on a new feeding station so they can provide food for more cats and encourage other students to participate in this humane initiative.

“If you don’t have enough people, you don’t have enough time to do stuff. Meeting more people who are interested in joining the club is gonna be something that we strive for. There will be more cats and we definitely need more people to help handle everything.” - Jonathan Rust

Tune in to find out how college students can make a change in their campus by providing humane initiatives for stray animals!
