Overcoming Graduation Ep. 51 Matt Lowman: High School Drop Out, Millionaire by 20, How He Lost it All and Got it All Back

Today we have one of the most important interviews on Overcoming Graduation to date! My guest is Matt Lowman, a man with an incredible story that is PACKED with valuable insights for people of all ages. He was a high school drop out who became a millionaire, lost it all, and got it all back. But when he got it back, his mindset around himself and the world had RADICALLY changed.

Drawn to martial arts at a very young age, Matt found that he had an aptitude for not just practicing martial arts but teaching them. He very quickly realized he was learning more practical, real world knowledge outside of school and decided to drop out of high school to begin running his martial arts business full-time. From coaching, to consulting he quickly amassed millions and had the life many of us think we want.

He had the money, the girls, the cars, but what he found was even with all the money and trappings of success, he still felt empty. Matt takes us on a journey today that details how he made his fortune, lost it all, then got it back while discovering who he really was and finally letting down his walls.

In today's interview Matt will discuss:

- How he always wanted to be a ninja turtle and how this led him to getting black belts in 8 different martial arts competing both nationally and internationally

- What he believes school is designed to do and how he decided it was time for him to leave

- The critical importance in how we define ourselves, our success, and how you can place your identity in something you can't lose

- How his commitment to maintain the image of "High school dropout turned millionaire" drove him to divorce and deep disconnection from his children

- How when all your needs are met by one thing, that thing can become your "god"

- Why so many people meet their biggest goals and immediately after ruin their lives

- Why Matt hates religion and how a historical analysis of the 12 Disciples renewed Matt's faith in himself

- Why we all need to "Agree to be bold in our weakness"

- Why not all people are meant to build big businesses and his advice on how to determine whether or not you should scale your business

- How your calendar says a lot more about your priorities than your words

- Two book recommendations that could save your relationship

- His recommendations on the best martial arts for self defense
