Vision boards, gratitude journals, writing down your “why,” and a slew of other activities are frequently recommended in the self-improvement space. But what about when those activities aren’t enough? That’s when you need to channel aspects of your dark side—specifically your anti-vision. We often know we want to change and don’t like our situation, but we can’t create a clear picture of what we want. But in this same situation, we’re most likely able to rattle off everything we don’t want or don’t stand for. You can take advantage of this and leverage it.
