I’ve been having a ton of conversations lately with people who are service providers that are looking to enter the online world. Personal trainers, yoga instructors, chiropractors, or holistic business are just a few of the most recent people that I’ve talked about creating a business in the online space. I’ve also talked to quite a few people who are local business owners that want to work online as well. It’s been interesting because that’s exactly what I did in 2011. As you move from working with people in person to working with them in the online world, it’s a little bit different.

When you start to think about the things that you need, I wanted to go over the essentials that will set you up for success in the online world. I have a checklist that I used in my own business and that I recommend to clients. The first thing is definitely figuring out what you sell and who you want to sell it to. Choosing your ideal client is the first step to bringing your business online because you want to be sure that you’re targeting your ideal client. Why would your ideal client choose your business? Understanding these things is really important so that you can show up online in a way that is going to be endearing to your potential client.

Assuming that you’ve been in business for a while, I have a ton of information for other entrepreneurs that want to move online. You have to be very specific in the online space, have a niche and understand who you are supporting so that you can speak to them on a regular basis. It’s all about figuring out what the pain point is for them that you solve. If you're someone who has been considering moving your business online, stay tuned!
