We were joined on the OMG Show by Suzanne Chadwick, owner of the Connection Exchange to share her tips and tricks about the best way to brand your business. Through her work, she helps women to build their business brand and bottom line. As a brand consultant, she has worked with large corporate brands and more recently has been working with small businesses to help them to build their brand, understand what that means, and work on their personal branding.
Suzanne works with businesses both big and small. For her larger clients, she does projects for employer branding and attraction strategies. As far as smaller businesses, she helps them to build their business brand and make sure that their personality is able to shine through. She talks about how it’s important to make sure that you have photos of yourself and your team, as well as a story all about you on your website! Most people want to get to know you on a personal level, especially if you are a solopreneur or small team running the company. More and more the market is looking to see the person behind the brand so that they can feel a personal connection with your audience.
We also talked all about how you can get started creating a personal brand for your business, as this is something that a lot of people struggle with. It’s all about figuring out what you want to be known for. According to Suzanne, business is the systems and process that you deliver to a customer but branding is the emotional connection that someone has with what you do. Often the word “brand” can get mistaken for the logo and the colors, but it’s more about why people would want to buy from you as a business owner. As Suzanne puts it, “We buy what we want to be, do, and have!” Thinking about branding, it’s all about what you want to be known for.
