It was the honor of my career to have Dr. Lindo Bacon on the podcast today! If you’re interested in learning from the author of Health at Every Size and Body Respect about why weight doesn’t equal health, today’s episode is for you! Plus, we dive deep into the evolution of Dr. Bacon’s books and their new book, Radical Belonging.

Dr. Lindo Bacon is a researcher and former professor, and for nearly two decades taught courses in social justice, health, weight, and nutrition. Dr. Bacon holds a Ph.D. in physiology with a specialty in nutrition, and master’s degrees in psychology and exercise metabolism. Dr. Bacon has mined their deep academic proficiency, their clinical expertise, and their personal experience to write two bestselling books, Health at Every Size: The Surprising Truth About Your Weight, and the co-authored Body Respect: What Conventional Health Books Get Wrong, Leave Out, or Just Plain Fail to Understand about Weight.

Their newly released book, Radical Belonging: How to Survive and Thrive in an Unjust World (While Transforming it for the Better) , takes their inspiring message beyond size, to shaping a culture of empathy, equity, and true belonging.

In this episode we discuss:

Who Lindo is and their desire to not be defined by work or accolades, but rather who they are. A basic explanation of what exactly is Health at Every Size. What led Lindo to write Health at Every Size, and what the book left out that they believe is integral to health. How Lindo’s book Health at Every Size, Body Respect and Radical Belonging are an evolution of their research and beliefs, how each book builds on one another. Lindo’s inspiration to write their new book, Radical Belonging, all about how to survive and thrive in an unjust world. How social injustices impact health outcomes and why health isn’t just about our behaviors like food and exercise. How Lindo practices wellness without obsession.
