Ep. 49: Childhood Sexual Assault w Survivor, Lauren

Today’s episode is about chlldhood sexual assault.  We welcomed survivor, Lauren, to share her story about the assault she endured at the hands of her father.  The abuse started at a very young age, continuing until the age of 14 when she bravely came forward to put an end to the abuse.  She talks about her journey through the court process, the breaking up of her family unit and the ferocious need to protect her little sister.  Lauren talks about what drove her to decide to disclose what she was going through to her mother. We chat about how to be the receiver of this information and what you can do to support that person.

This story is so raw, real, heartbreaking and empowering to hear.  We want all listeners to appreciate all the advice Lauren has to give whether that’s to other victims and survivors or those who may know someone going through it. We discuss the different resources available and the signs you may see in someone going through abuse. Lauren’s outlook on life is remarkable and we can all take a page out of her book.  We learned so much from her and we hope you can too.  Listen in for Lauren’s story.
