"Facing Challenges & Hardship" Psalm 46 - January 31, 2023 Read Here: https://www.bible.com/en-GB/bible/111/PSA.46.NIV

. Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Facing Hardship and Adversity – If you haven’t read through this Psalm carefully, I would encourage you to go back and do so. This is the Psalm that inspired Luther’s hymn, A Mighty Fortress is Our God. It proclaims the sovereignty and power of God in all things: his power over nature, over the city, and over nation-states and wars. It was obviously written during a crisis, in which the author’s faith is being tested. While scholars have theorized what the crisis may have been, I like the fact that the crisis is left unnamed. It allows us to see how these words go far beyond a local, specific situation and can speak into the most difficult crises of our lives as well.

The focus verses for today are probably familiar to many of you. God is our refuge and our strength. Regardless of what the world tells us, God is the one who brings security and strength. It isn’t God plus something else. It’s simply God. He is the one who is an ever-present help in the midst of our struggles. He is ready and willing, simply waiting for us to call upon him. For what do you need to call upon God today? Which struggle or trouble feels overwhelming? Trust that God is present and God is powerful. He can change your circumstances, though often not in the way we would do so. Call out to God right now. Allow him to hear your pleas.

Let’s pray…Lord Jesus, Hear our prayers. Hear the deepest desires of our hearts. Amen. . https://www.findnewhope.com

Our staff and leadership employ what's called the “S.O.A.P. Method”. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Each day, we read one or two chapters of Scripture and focus on one particular verse. We make some observations about how that verse touches us, discern how it applies to our lives, and offer a prayer related to what we have read. - Rev.
