. Isaiah 41:10, So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Facing Challenges and Adversity – I hope you got a chance to read through all of chapter 41. I know it’s long but it’s also pretty interesting. God is about to argue a case for why the Jews should trust in the Lord to deliver them. They are currently in exile and things seem utterly hopeless. In this scene, God is the judge and he has convened the world before him; yet, he is also one of the litigants. He is the judge AND he is arguing the case.

Why should God’s people trust him for deliverance? Well, the issue at hand is, who rules the world? Who is really in charge of the earth and everything in it? God makes it clear – he is! Throughout the text, we see the author highlight the weakness of Israel. God is all-powerful but God’s people are weak. And yet, they have overcome tremendous obstacles because God is on their side. God is not passive. God is actively involved in their lives. God is transforming circumstances. Thus, they have no need to fear, and no need to experience anxiety. He will give them supernatural strength. By his own hand, they will persevere. God loves them and he wants them to understand that there is a future beyond what they currently see. There is hope.

Let’s fast forward to 2023. I know many of you are experiencing hardship and challenges. Some are experiencing medical and health issues, others might be dealing with relationship or family problems, financial hardship, emotional turmoil, or grief. Let’s think about this Scripture. God wants us to know that we are loved and there is a future beyond what we currently are experiencing. God is not passive but is actively working in your situation. Sometimes we don’t see it or understand how. My prayer for each of you is that God reveals himself to you and lets you get a glimpse of how he is at work in your life.

Let’s pray…Lord Jesus, Show us your glory, show us your power, show us your strength. We need you. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.

Our staff and leadership employ what's called the “S.O.A.P. Method”. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Each day, we read one or two chapters of Scripture and focus on one particular verse. We make some observations about how that verse touches us, discern how it applies to our lives, and offer a prayer related to what we have read. - Rev.
