On this episode of the NerdBrand podcast, our guest is Lauren Coulter, Director of Franchise Sales & Development of Biscuit Belly! Biscuit Belly is a growing breakfast concept restaurant.

Aside from drooling over Biscuit Belly's "damn good biscuits," we're talking about one of NerdBrand’s favorite actors, Michael Keaton, and his role in the film "The Founder."

The Founder is a 2016 American biographical drama film directed by John Lee Hancock and written by Robert Siegel. Starring Michael Keaton as businessman Ray Kroc, the film portrays the story of his creation of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain.

In spite of Ray’s character, he did take an efficient business (delivering fast food) to new heights.

Some issues we saw highlighted in the film:

1. Lack of vision from the original founders of McDonald's and an unwillingness to scale

2. Unclear brand mission and purpose to initial franchisees - he just sold

3. Understanding the business - the foundation of the business was not food. It was real estate.

4. Your personal life can impact the business' success greatly.
