Our society values busyness over mindfulness, and short-term accomplishments over long-term lifestyle changes. These come with a variety of consequences, including a negative impact on our relationship with food. After her own experience of being immersed in the weight-centered diet culture which is so prevalent today, today’s guest, Dr. Michelle May, came to the conclusion that there had to be a better way of doing things, and “Am I Hungry?” was born! In today’s episode, Michelle and I discuss the mindful eating approach that she has developed with the aim of helping people move away from restrictions and towards a flexible, sustainable, balanced way of eating that brings joy and vibrancy to people’s lives! In Michelle’s world, there is no such thing as a “bad list” and the phrase, “I can’t have” doesn’t exist in her vocabulary!
