Mike Sizemore hosts Episode 3 of the Moments of Clarity Member Series on OCD

Mike tells us about his experience with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD, and when it started to manifest for him as he was transitioning into middle school. Both his grandfather and great grandmother had OCD, and it does tend to run in families.

Mike’s OCD symptoms began to impact his life when he was 11 years old, but he was not formally diagnosed until age 13.  Mike went from a small elementary school into a large junior high school. The difference had an effect on his mental health.

Mike describes it as the perfect storm to kick off his OCD. He was genetically predisposed to have OCD and it was starting to take over his life by age 13 as he was going through puberty, switching schools, all the while trying to shut off the stream of continuous intrusive thoughts.
