The "Your Story" Series

Today we are chatting with Dubhe Ferrer about how to channel positive thinking and challenge both familial and societal stereotypes. So often in our discussions with people, we hear them say “I want to be body positive, but how?”

It takes a great UNLEARNING and RELEARNING to help us find body positivity, so surrounding yourself with affirmations, watching who you follow on social media, reading books that educate you on the systemic oppression that fuels diet culture, and being mindful of your conversations are all tools toward helping with the relearning process. If you find your biggest obstacle in finding body positivity is feeling you or your body doesn’t DESERVE that, then finding help from a professional can help you with uncovering the roots of your self worth.

While body positivity is a trendy term these days, it may seem overwhelming to try to learn to love your body, so we want to introduce you to a concept called body neutrality. In short, body neutrality is rooted in acknowledging what your body does, not how it appears. This is where we challenge you to try to have grace for your genetics and body story by acknowledging the strengths your body has as well as the experiences it has been through and move about the world in a way that brings you joy.
