Today:  I got the chance to shoot the M&P and Sig with different slide mounted dot sites on each side by side to do a comparison.  I still want a pistol with a dot, just not sure which direction I should go.

I really like the Sig and the M&P.  I’ve been carrying the M&P9 for about 5 years now and really like it.  Smith is trying to update the platform but not doing it fast enough to keep up with the market at this point.  They should be out with all the Red dots on top of them, but they are not yet.  I think it’s a marketing ploy that they are waiting to introduce the M&P 2.0 with slide mounted dot.

The only thing keeping me from switching to the Sig 320 is money.  It’s an incredible amount of money to switch platforms, holsters, magazines, training time, back up gun, and the like make the endeavor way more than just buying a pistol and switching.

Here’s what I found shooting them side by side:

Outline:

Why I like the Sig:

Natural Pointing and Aim Good Trigger High Bore Access (Feels like shooting a 1911) Manual Safety Option Great Feeling Guns always liked the 250 when it came out Lots of Options

Why I like the Smith & Wesson M&P

Great Grip Angle and Feel Shoot Straight Works better than a Glock for me Smith was going the right way with optics and then choked New M&P makes the old one better in almost every way Haven’t been able to break it… totally yet.

Optics

RMR has been the standard for a while now Never really like it Battery issues 2 Guys I know and respect went to them on carry guns and then got rid of them Romeo 1 Bigger then the RMR Solves battery problems Seems to be clearer to view through the window Motion activated Control Brightness

Shooting Contest

30 Rounds Each all at 10 yards 10 Rounds slow fire off hand groups best I could do 10 Rounds rapid fire to keep inside the 5” circle at 10 yards 10 Rounds Hammer pairs trying to keep inside the circle Results Slow Fire the Sig shot better Groups Rapid Fire Group the M&P shot better Hammer Pairs the M&P Shot better Conclusion M&P is my gun and I should have outshot them all with it, but the sig outshot it on the slow fire group I think it was the clarity of the optic over the gun But I have outshot groups with the Sig over my M&P before I will not be putting and RMR on anything, I will be buying a Romeo If I had unlimited funds I’d probably switch to the Sig 320 pistols and just go with them… but I’ll probably be buying another M&P and putting a Romeo 1 on it
