In today’s conversation, I talk domestic abuse with Stella Prize winning author, Jess Hill. Jess is the author of See What You Made Me Do, and has spent the last 5 years researching domestic abuse. Jess is joined by her partner, psychotherapist, David Hollier, who discusses the relationship between abuse and shame. David also co-wrote a chapter in the book.
Jess describes the shock of winning the Stella, adjusting to life as a ‘thought leader’, and the personal toll of her confronting research.
Jess also identifies the social, cultural, political, and psychological barriers to domestic abuse, and calls for changes to the current legal system.
