On today’s episode Julie talks to Kendra Fisher. In the summer of 1999, Kendra was on the brink of achieving her dream of becoming a goaltender for Canada’s national women’s ice hockey team. She was invited to tryout camp, but didn’t get far before suffering a mental breakdown that would change everything.
Kendra was diagnosed with a Severe Anxiety Disorder along with Severe Panic Attacks, Depression and Agoraphobia; forcing her to leave the national hockey program and walk away from her dream in order to seek help.
Kendra is now on a personal mission to break down the stigma of mental illness and educate others about the importance of staying mentally fit.
