How quickly I forget who I really am! I think my opinion carries more importance and weight than that of others. In my own eyes, I consider myself superior to __________. Rather than build up, I tear down. Rather than encourage, I mock. Rather than seeking what is best for my neighbor, I seek to demonstrate superiority over them…or at least I think that in my mind. On his deathbed, Martin Luther wrote, “We are beggars. That is true.” Before God, I am nothing, but a selfish, sniveling, worthless beggar corrupted to the core with sin. I deserve nothing, but death and consequences for my guilt. Yet Christ, who truly is important as true God, humbly laid aside his glory and power to make me something in his eyes. Why? Because he loves me. Humbled by his richly undeserved love, I humbly love others in my life.
