We live in fearful times. The pandemic continues to cause uncertainty and remind us of the fragility of life. Racial turmoil and the varied and troubling responses to injustice force us to do some honest self-examination. Hostility and apathy towards God’s Word and the Christian church seem to only increase. Mix into that the difficulties that the followers of Christ face, whether that’s rejection, hostility, or even hatred—and a natural response to all that is fear. Yet Jesus urges us to look through his eyes because we have no need to fear. No need to fear? Christ points us to his heavenly Father, who knows us intimately and values us exceedingly. In these fearful times, look through the eyes of Jesus and see the Father who removes our fear.
