About Dr. Orlena: She trained in the UK as a pediatric doctor and now leads a mediterranean lifestyle in beautiful Spain. She is the author of “Feeding Toddlers”, and host of the “fit and fabulous at 40 and beyond” podcast. Her mission is to help women create healthy habits for them and their families so that they all live long healthy lives and feel amazing.

As a mother of 4 kids (2 of them super fussy), she knows what it’s like to “lose yourself” to motherhood. You put everyone’s needs above your own and wonder why you’re tired, exhausted and overwhelmed. Her favorite saying is “The best thing you can give your kids is your own happiness. And the second best thing is vegetables!” We want to teach our kids healthy habits, but the best way is to demonstrate them. We need to start with ourselves.

In this episode, Adam and Dr. Orlena discuss:

Building healthier habitsSteering your kids in the right directionChanging into a healthy lifestyle

Key Takeaways:

Habits are actions that you do without having to think about. You can conserve a lot of energy and time if you build a habit instead of having to decide all the time.Steer your kids into the right direction, let them grow up into seeing healthy food as normal food. For many, making the switch into living a healthier lifestyle is a big change and it will require a lot of determination. Even if you already have a lifestyle coach, you’re going to need to coach yourself, remind yourself, and stay committed.

"You need to start with yourself. Kids - they learn by copying. One of the best things you can do for your children and their long term health is to prioritize your own health and your own wellbeing." —  Dr. Orlena
