I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds regular meditation challenging to maintain in all the busy-ness of daily life, but Burkhard Langemann is very clear that it's an essential practice we need to do daily.  Like brushing our teeth.  Hygiene for the mouth and hygiene for the mind, he says.
Burkhard should know, he is a Psychologist by background and is currently a Yoga & Meditation Teacher Trainer.  Ten years ago he co-founded Akasha Yoga Academy, which is where our paths crossed when I did my yoga teacher training with him in Bali 5 years ago.
We begin our chat reflecting on the importance of holding space and finding the stillness necessary not just for deeper healing and awareness, but also for keeping us in the 'big picture'.
And what is this big picture?  It's detachment from the two polarities of the pleasure and pain in life.  Sometimes we're the 'hero' when the going is good but equally we can feel like a 'zero' when things go wrong.  He explains why we should take neither version of ourselves personally.   And meditation is a tool that takes us out of this illusion and acts as a very healthy 'reset', takes us back to our 'default setting' of centredness and connection.
At the end of our chat Burkhard invites us to a one-minute meditation practice to give us a feel for the benefit of stillness - please join us!
