What type of conflict avoider are you? Do you fight when you are in conflict with another and do you blame and deflect taking responsibility because you don’t want to be honest with yourself? Or, are you a person who flees and just runs from the conflict because you fear being attacked by the other? Either way is not healthy communication and is problematic for relationships. While it can be smart and helpful to walk away from a conflict if one or both of you are upset, it is important to come back and have a healthy conversation when both are calmed down. If we continually “push the conflict under the rug” and avoid, problems very rarely get resolved.
“If you avoid conflict to keep the peace you start a war inside yourself.” ~ Cheryl Richardson
