In addition to announcing Balancing Your Backpack, Kim and Tia talk about values and being in alignment with your values. As the quote indicates, are you true to yourself? Do you have the courage to stay in alignment with your values or do the masks you wear keep you from doing the things in life that are really important to you? What gets in the way of staying true to yourself besides the masks that we wear? Oftentimes it is our inner dialogue and our belief systems. Some may not feel that they are worthy of staying in alignment with their core values and some may be so consumed with doing and achieving and living on the “hamster wheel of life” that they are not even aware of what their values are let alone stay in alignment with them.  The price that we pay when we are not true to ourselves is that we feel disconnected from our authentic selves. Once we make choices that are in alignment with our core values, we feel more empowerment and more authentic.

If you are interested in the book that Kim mentioned in the episode it is “Mindset” by Carolyn Dweck.

“There are some values that you should never compromise on to stay true to yourself; you should be brave to stand up for what you truly believe in even if you stand alone.”― Roy T. Bennett
