In this episode, Cheryl and Dave Rosenberg discuss:

How can a leader be effective?

The point of doing business

What is a leader’s job?

The ripples of self-actualization

Key Takeaways:

In order for one to be an effective leader, one must acknowledge that their team will never do more than they do and so they have to set the example or lead from the front.

The most important part of a business is the value that it provides to its clients. It should be a win-win, money is an IOU for the value received. Businesses that don’t provide value to others should not exist.

It’s the leader’s job to allow the team to improve and rise. The leader has to take away the barriers that prohibit them from doing that and give them processes and systems that will put them in a journey of constant growth.

When you help people become self-actualize at work, it ripples across all other areas of their lives. When they love what they’re doing, they’ll end up having a better connection with their family. Instead of feeling a frustrated tiredness at the end of the day, what they’ll feel is satisfied exhaustion.

“Be easy on yourself, while you're being hard on yourself. Give yourself grace to understand that this is an iterative process of constant improvement, both for you and your team. As long as you continue to grow as an individual, your team will continue to grow with you. But if you stop growing, your team will never grow.”  —  Dave Rosenberg
