Connor Bazelak's heroics delivers IU football victory over Illinois

The Indiana Hoosiers football team waited until the final drive of the night before coming from behind for a memorable, exciting victory to open the season against the Illinois Fighting Illini. New quarterback Connor Bazelak led the decisive drive for the game-winning touchdown as part of an impressive debut performance.

On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) recaps the season-opening win and the emotional release that came along with it after a dismal 2021 season. Even for how exciting the victory was, IU still left plenty to be desired over the course of the entire game.

Still, Bazelak was at the center of two of the game-changing plays of the night, including his long touchdown pass to D.J. Matthews in the first half. The defense also stepped up with a number of key turnovers in the second half as well.

The show wraps by looking at the top players of the game on both sides of the ball. On top of Bazelak and Matthews, Cam Camper was a standout on the offense while Cam Jones anchored the defense.
