While studying the word “faith” in the Bible dictionary, I came across a sentence that really bothered me.  It said, “a lack of faith leads one to despair, which comes because of iniquity.”  At first I was quite offended by this, but then I began to wonder what that word really means.  How does it relate to despair and lack of faith?  Iniquity means many things, but one of the possible meanings is "misunderstanding."  It is misunderstanding God's will and his purpose that brings despair and weakens our faith.  Having a correct understanding and recognizing that we don't have the whole picture increases hope and peace in our lives.
